2016 5A STATE WEIGHT MEET CHAMPIONS

Very proud of the effort from our Panther Weight Lifting Team for winning the 2016 5A State Weight Meet Championship. This is Clarksville's first ever State Championship in Weight Lifting.

The Panthers partook in the 2016 Weight Meet, which included over 500 lifters and 40 different schools from around the state.

​The Panthers, who finished third last year, tied the Wyne Yellow Jackets for their place amongst the top of the 5A this year. Only a year ago, the Wyne Yellow Jackets beat the Panthers by over 500lbs, this year they're splitting the championship.

The other classification champions were as follows:

6/7A - Greenwood

4A - Fountain Lake

3A Benton Harmony Grove

2A Junction City

This is evidence of the hard work these players and this coaching staff have devoted to the offseason program.

2016 Liftathon

We hosted our first ever Liftathon this past Saturday.

The day is a chance for our boys to show off what they've been working on since December. The Liftathon was created by our Strength​ and Conditioning Coach, Dalton Pearson. This was his first event, and he did an amazing job organizing it and getting the most out of our boys.

We had over 100 parents show up, and we had some great lifts.

Our belief is that all things work together for the good of Panther Football. The increases in strength that these boys displayed this past Saturday will pay dividends on the football field next season.

Tuesday Workout:

  • JH:
  • 9th and 8th grade workout
    • Workout Stations (20 min half and switch)
      • Dalton– Speed Deadlift 8x2 45%

        Leg lifts 8x12
      • Cranor/Cogan/Plugge – 4 auxs at 5 mins/station:
        • Hurdle Circuit and Ladder Drills – Brad
        • Close Grip Banded Bench Press 70% 4x10/ Seated Band Pulls 4x12- Plugge
        • Dumbbell Bench 5x5/ Single Arm Rows 5x6-Cogan
        • T Drill- Powers
  • Varsity:  D Staff To Greenwood?
    • Workout Stations (20 min half and switch)

      • Brad/Powers/Cogan – 3 auxs at 6 mins/station:
        • Tire Flips 5x5/ Sledgehammer Slams 5x10/ Russian Twists 5x10 - Brad
        • Elevated Banded Sumo Deadlift 5x2 10 sec rest between sets 80%/ Ab Crunch 5x12- Powers
        • Mrs. Betsy – Plugge
        • Plate Push-ups 5x6/ Underhanded Bent Over Rows 5x6- Cogan
  • Varsity:
    • Workout Stations (20 min half and switch)
